Giving back

Whitechapel Mission partnership

WE’RE ON A MISSION FOR WHITECHAPEL MISSION.

As a hub in the heart of Whitechapel, home to over 500 people, we want to give back to our local community and show we’re more than just a building and you’re more than just our occupiers.

This year and next we hope you’ll join us in supporting an amazing local charity, Whitechapel Mission. Based just around the corner, it supports over 600 homeless people everyday with vital food, clothes and upskilling.

Because of the pandemic, other centres in London have been forced to close, but Whitechapel Mission has stayed open. It’s seen its demand double and this Christmas Day it is expected to serve 1,000 warm meals.

If you’d like to help them with their vital work this Christmas and beyond, we’d love it if you could donate one day’s lunch money (£5) to feed, shower and clothe a homeless person on Christmas Day or donate by dropping off a sleeping bag or a thick winter coat in reception at The Loom.

WHO ARE WHITECHAPEL MISSION?

Whitechapel Mission has been helping Londoners help the homeless since 1876.

  • Whitechapel Mission is a volunteer led centre, with teams of volunteers offering support to its core team of staff
It typically sees 300 people a day, serving hot meals and providing clothing and showers. During the COVID-19 pandemic it’s seen this rise to 600 people a day, as other centres have been forced to close
  • It provides wider recovery programmes, helping provide life-skills and job-skills training, as well as addiction recovery. We hope that in the Spring we’ll be able to offer volunteering sessions with the charity where you can use your skills for good
  •  It’s a unique charity – 100% of donations received are used strictly for charitable purposes.

WHY WE’RE PARTNERING WITH WHITECHAPEL MISSION

Increased demand
Due to COVID-19 and other centres being forced to close, Whitechapel Mission has seen demand for its services double–
it is now providing 600 breakfasts per day and a similar number of showers.

In need of donations

The organisation needs to receive donations to be able continue its vital work in serving a larger pool of people.
The charity is also seeking a new supply of warm clothes and food as the months get colder.

Volunteering in the spring

Whitechapel Mission relies on volunteers to deliver its work. Due to COVID-19 volunteering initiatives have been suspended with the hope that a full service will be resumed
in Spring. Let us know if your organisation would be interested in getting involved!

ON A CHRISTMAS DAY MISSION

This Christmas, Whitechapel Mission will be serving 1,000 Christmas meals to homeless people across London. It’s a vital source of warmth and seasonal spirit at a hard time of the year.

With increased demand on its services, Whitechapel Mission is relying on the generosity of its local community more so than ever.

Will you Donate just £5?

This year, we’re encouraging you all to donate one day’s lunch money (£5) to Whitechapel Mission to allow them to feed, shower and clothe a homeless person on Christmas Day.

Let’s see if we can raise £500 to help 100 people at Whitechapel Mission on Christmas Day.
