Beata Religa

Wood is my fabric, metal is my thread, August-Nov 2016

Beata is studying on the BA in Textile Design course with the aim to develop an interiors based range of products. Working with a professional woodworker, she combines furniture, surfaces and pattern to create bespoke collections.

Beata is a ‘maker’ whose work focuses on using resources that are to hand rather than letting them to go waste.

“I am currently exploring the tension between the altered surfaces of wood and the introduction of the ancient art of Kinsugi* to these burnt, cracked and potentially forgotten slices of wood. I am interested in the linear continuation from slice to slice, reflecting the changing and evolving surface of the building itself.”
